.....First Aid Kit. Marissa Nadler. Mountain Man. Olof Arnalds. That's my little list of my favourite female voices of the last couple of years. Obél is the newest addition. The Berlin-based Danish singer-songwriter combines ethereal melodies and memorable lyrics to create hauntingly catchy songs.
After only hearing "Riverside" once I felt like I had known it for years; it instantly became a classic, in my ears. This song is catchier than Big Yellow Taxi, Let it Be and even Message in a Bottle (actually, perhaps not that last one); it has the potential to be huge. This woman writes songs much better than her popular British Counterparts (see LAURA MARLING or AMY MACDONALD) and has the voice of an angel.
